The latest plug-in hatchback to hit the market is the 2013 Ford C-MAX Energi Plug-In Hybrid, which carries a $32,950 price tag ($37,435 as tested.
The EPA estimates that the C-MAX Energi will achieve a combined 43 mpg when it runs on gasoline; or 100 mpge when running on electricity and gasoline.
Ford's conservative front end design ties C-MAX in with its other models.
With a 104.3" wheelbase, 173.6" length, 63.9" height and 72" width, the C-MAX is compact but not tiny.
Clean design places information high on the dash and instrument panel.
