Alleged Boko Haram killings in Borno

The latest deadly rampage by gunmen believed to be members of Boko Haram has resulted in the death of 56 people, a burnt down mosque, and a fear-riddled city.

 

News of the attack was released on Monday, however the shooting had taken place on Sunday in a mosque in Konduga, during the morning prayers. Apart from the fatalities, 26 people are said to be injured, and in critical condition.

 

According to Businessweek.com, Ali Dalori, a lawmaker from Borno, confirmed the attack, but didnt elaborate.

 

"Another 12 people were shot dead at Ngom village near Konduga on Aug. 11, Ibrahim said. “Some suspected Boko Haram members, who were over 100 in number, invaded our villages dressed in military uniforms before killing our people".

 

In May, President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency, giving his troops the go ahead to take offensive action against Boko Haram.
