Ghanaian Fashion brand Mina Evans

Hi mecksoncrownBlog readers, Today we taking a close look at one of my favorite designers

Ghanaian Fashion brand Mina Evans

Chic and futuristic are but a few of the many adjectives you can use to define the works of Ghanaian designer label Mina Evans, run by the beautiful Mina Evans-Anfom.

The press garnered by the youthful brand and designer means she has swiftly become one of the biggest names on the continent.

An intricately exotic yet simple label like hers requires an equally stylish personality, with an extreme sense of resolve, exactness and high performance rate, to steer it home. So far, she’s managed to get that through.

Three years ago, she launched the Mina Evans brand. The launch was greeted with a lot of hopefulness from people who had had the privilege of experiencing her pre-pro.

Before getting to hit the limelight, Evans-Anfom interned with Kofi Ansah, arguably Ghana’s biggest fashion and design icon. She had picked up notes of how she can also become a huge star like Ansah.

Prior to enrolling at Anash’s she had studied at the London Centre for Fashion Studies under the Northumbria School of Design, and also enrolled at Design School Southern Africa in Johannesburg.

Weeks after stepping out of Ansah’s studios, she was ready to soar with the big game players, launching Jewels and Tulle, her first collection. It was also her first, major design statement.  She was just 22 at the time.

The reaction? Huge, and was accompanied by a level of optimism that if she could go in hard on subsequent collections, she would get to become the star she had been dreaming of.
Years went by, and she continued to live the life of a successful young designer. Soon, she was staging at all the big shows.

Three other collections Terra Firma (Solid Ground in Latin), Finura (Capsule) and Twisted Romance have all been rolled out to positive reviews.

Evans-Anfom’s obsession with handpicked add-ons to come out with sound and undying pieces that can be worn for years is what the Mina Evans label has come to be known for.

Terra Firma for instance was given birth to, out of her love for tones that are more coloured in statements than anything, and that, which also doesn’t take away the suppleness of the final touch.

In Twisted Romance, we get to see more colours and other branches of the Mina Evans brand, heavy on the traditional African Tie and Dye, which was given a pecking-up of a sort to look fresh and provoke thoughts.

Also at play in Twisted Romance, was the use of fabric collections such as organza, silk, and chiffon.

Throughout all these collections, she maintains a careful and deliberate brand scheme of innovation and excellence to get the consumer in tune with the times, still managing to stick to the wild and imaginative factor Mina Evans factor.

Both men and women, who want to come off as glamorous, wear her clothes. As luxurious as it may come, it is worn by many. The Mina Evans brand is emerging and growing with surprising speed and fans of her brand expect big things in the near future.
