BMW M4 Coupe Concept

Abraham - September 27, 2013

Finished in an unusual shade of Aurum Dust, BMW unveiled the aggressively styled M4 coupe concept in California at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The car many report is the successor to the M3 Coupe

The new M4 gets a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine producing an estimated 456PS as compared to the 420PS produced by the normally aspirated 4.0-litre V8 in the outgoing M3

Torque is expected to be around 647Nm, a healthy 108Nm increase thanks to forced induction. Drive is through the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox

0-100kph time will come up in 4.5 seconds. The top speed will be electronically limited to 250kph

The coupe gets 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels in twin five-spoke design

The new M division engine features a closed deck design for added rigidity. It also uses a spray coating instead of cylinder bore liners for reducing weight

A forged crankshaft and lightweight pistons are used for reducing the rotating mass which makes the throttle response better and quicker

The roof and rear diffuser are made from CFRP in a bid to not exceed 1500kg kerb weight
