Kanye West Disses Kim’s Ex

Abraham - September 11, 2013

It’s pretty much a given that Kanye performing on your show is the Holy Grail of celebrity appearances.

And when he's dropping in to perform the Yeezus track "Bound 2" with R&B legend Charlie Wilson, backed by the NONE OTHER than the Roots, you know you’ve really struck gold. It comes as no surprise then, that when Jimmy Fallon tweeted "@kanyewest surprises Late Night and performs "Bound 2" with @theroots and kills it" on Monday night, we were in for a treat.

And Kanye pulled out all the stops. In his first-ever performance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" (as well as the live debut of the song), Kanye had Wilson open with all the smooth and soulful aplomb we’ve come to expect from him, over a majestic piano backing. Moments later, the Roots kicked in full force, along with a six-voice children's chorus as West leaned into the song's reworked-for-TV opening bridge. In those lines, he took a not-so-subtle jab at his girlfriend Kim Kardashian's ex, Ray J, with a biting new couplet. "Brandy's little sister lame, man, he know it now," he rapped. "When a real brother hold you down you supposed to drown."

Ray J is a performer in his own right, but is probably best known as the costar in Kim Kardashian’s now infamous sex tape.
Ouch…
