Lady GaGa has shared her opinion on Miley Cyrus's performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs, saying “people need to lighten up about pop music”.
The 20-year old singer hit the headlines after stripping down to a nude-coloured two-piece and twerking up against Robin Thicke as he sang his smash hit single, Blurred Lines.
Speaking to The Sun, GaGa said: "I don't like to pass judgement on Miley Cyrus. Generally, people need to lighten up about pop music, it's about entertainment.
"It is here to make you smile and make you happy. Especially in America there is an excessive dragging of female artists and I don't want to contribute to that.
"I do things that are polarising sometimes but that's what it's all about," she added.
A number of celebrities have commented on the performance – with Selena Gomez and Adam Lambert both defending Cyrus against criticism.
Miley recently declared that haters only help her to break records.
In other GaGa news, the Mother Monster is set to make a cameo appearance in upcoming movie Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For.
