Lar’s body would not be brought home yet

Abraham - October 20, 2013

GOVERNOR Jonah Jang of Plateau State has said the remains of the Late Chief Solomon Lar, founding Chairman of PDP, would be brought from US when the date for his interment would have been fixed.
Jang made this known in Jos on Saturday when he received Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State who was on a condolence visit to the state over the demise of the political icon.

He said the late elder statesman would be given a national burial as states within the North central geo-political zone had indicated interest to participate actively in the burial arrangement including the Presidency, the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his close associates across the country.

Jang described Lar as a political mentor of the present political dispensation who shaped political events for the survival of the nation.

Speaking earlier,  Al-Makura described the exit of Chief Solomon Lar as a colossal loss not only to the people of Plateau and Nasarawa States but to the entire country.

He noted that the developmental strides of the elder statesman left for the people of Nasarawa and Plateau States where he served between 1979 and 1983 as governor would continue to speak after him, adding that the two states.

He said Lar was one of the politicians in the country who do not play politics of religion, ethnicity and sentiment, adding that “even when you did or said something contrary to what he stood for, he would allow you to exercise your right to your opinion.”
