A man has taken to Internet forums to complain about a landlady who had allegedly imposed a variety of unreasonable rules, such as charging him for watching television and not allowing him to leave the bathroom floor wet after a shower.
The tenant, who goes by the username 'Disputed' on an online forum, said that he had rented and moved out of the room at Blk 63B Lengkok Bahru within a day. Tenant moves out after nightmare landlady insists on unreasonable rules 'Disputed' said in his posting that he had moved in and paid $700 rent for a room at the Lengkok Bahru flat on October 26.
While he was moving in, a neighbour who saw him told him that previous tenants had moved out of the same flat as they could not get along with the landlady. When he asked the housing agent about what he had heard, he was told that the neighbour did not have a good relationship with the landlady.
After moving in, 'Disputed' said that the landlady started to impose many new rules on him. For example, he was not allowed to use the freezer compartment of the refrigerator and was only allowed to use a small space in the fridge. He was also told that the bathroom floor had to be dry after he took his shower, and that the kitchen lights and fan in his room should not be switched on.
That was not all. His landlady also told him that no sound should be made when he was opening or closing the metal gate at the front door. She also insisted on increasing the rent when she saw that he had placed a television in his room. Although he argued that these rules were not mentioned in the tenancy agreement, she told him that she had the right to change the rules as and when she wished as she was the owner of the flat.
