Gums

Unhealthy gums can lead to tooth decay or loss of teeth and therefore, you must take good care of your gums. So, follow these tips to maintain healthy gums.

1) Brushing right

Brushing right is important for healthy gums, but do not brush too hard, simply apply some pressure on your teeth. Opt for a toothbrush that has soft bristles. These soft bristles won't cut or damage your gums. Also, twist your brush at a 45 degree angle so that the bristles won't damage your gums.

2) Massage your gums

Besides brushing, your dental routine should also include an oral massage. Use a tonic oil, preferably eucalyptus or peppermint because they have antiseptic properties and are known to activate blood flow. Take some oil on a clean finger and massage your gums in a circular motion on the inside and outside and then on the upper jaw and lower jaw.3)

3) Exercise your mouth

Try this exercise daily after you massage your teeth. Gently bite down so that your teeth make a clicking sound when they meet. Do this for about 30 to 40 times simultaneously. This exercise stimulates blood flow and keeps your gums healthy.

4) Mouthwash is a must

In addition to brushing and flossing, you must also rinse your mouth with mouthwash regularly. Mouthwash is an antiseptic and will help kill bacteria that cause bad breath and gum disease.5)

5) Reduce your sugar intake

When the sugar you eat combines with the bacteria in your mouth, it leads to plaque. This plaque is known to cause bleeding gums, cavities and tooth decay. Also, remember that sugar and carbonated beverages can dissolve the enamel of your tooth. Therefore, one must cut back on their sugar intake to maintain healthy gums.

    1. Don't drink hot and cold simultaneously.
    2. Chew food at least 32 times and then swallow.
