Mozambique plane crash

Thirty three people were killed when a Mozambique airlines plane crashed in a Namibian national park this past weekend.

According to the reports, flight TM470 from Maputo failed to land in Luanda, Angola as scheduled on Friday afternoon.

The last contact the airline reportedly made with the plane was when it was over northern Namibia and upon a search launch there were signs the plane might have landed near Rundu.

Namibia Police Force deputy commissioner, Willy Bampton, said the plane wreck was found in Bwabwata National Park burnt to ashes and there were no survivors.

The plane was carrying 27 passengers and six crew members of mostly Mozambican, Angolan and Portuguese nationals. There were also Brazilian, Chinese and French nationals on board.

Bampton said, "Botswana officials informed us that they saw smoke in the air and they thought the crash happened in their country, but when they came to the border they realised that it was in Namibia."
