“This award is the first award I have ever won in my entire life.”
Iggy Azalea pointed that out as she accepted the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album award for her The New Classic at this year’s American Music Awards. Beating out Drake’s Nothing Was The Same and Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 2, the Grand Hustle first lady also thanked T.I. for believing in her.
“It means so much to me that it is for best hip-hop because that's what inspired me to move to America and pursue my dreams, it's what helped me when I was a teenager to escape and get through my life and to better times,” she said. “It just means so much that I can stand here against Eminem and Drake and come out with this, it's amazing.”
