Zinedine Zidane has urged Gareth Bale to ask for a transfer away from
Tottenham as Real Madrid prepare to move for the midfielder in the
off-season.
The Welshman's performances for Spurs last season earned him the 2012/13 PFA Player of the Season award, as well as plenty of interest from the Galacticos who are looking to add some firepower to their squad following a trophyless campaign.
And while Bale has remained tight-lipped over his intentions heading into the transfer window, Real sporting director Zidane feels that if the 23-year-old is ready to move on, he should approach the Tottenham board in a bid to speed up the process.
"I think Real Madrid have made their admiration of Gareth Bale very clear - and it has been made clear that we would not be put off by the cost of the player," Zidane told the Sunday People.
"But if Gareth feels now is the time to move then he has to have a private discussion with his club and express that he wants to leave."
