Gabon’s Presidential Site Hacked To Protest Ritual Killings

Hackers have attacked several of Gabon’s state websites, including that of the President, to protest ritual killings and corruption said to be rife in the country.

According to The Examiner, hackers affiliated with hacktivist group Anonymous disabled several government sites to help highlight the trafficking of body parts used in rituals. Called Operation Gabon, the campaign has been ongoing since April, using petitions, live protests and social media to raise public awareness.

There have been some successes so far - the biggest being President Ali Bongo publically acknowledging the existence of ritual killings, something he has never done before.
