Northerners and the Nigerian Government should be blame for all these. In one way, they supported bokoharam and now its out of control. They are angry, frustrated and depressed because they become a victim of something they embraced.

Let me take you back a bit.In 1995, the group was said to be operating under the name Shabaab, Muslim Youth Organisation with Mallam Lawal as the leader. When Lawal left to continue his education, Mohammed Yusuf took over leadership of the group. Yusuf’s leadership allegedly opened the group to political influence and popularity. In 2011,Mr Femi Falana said on punch newspaper that the sect were involved in the former Governor’s campaign and that the former Governor legalised Sharia in a secular state. He also said that Sheriff made a member of the sect, Mr. Buju Foi the Commissioner For Religious Affairs, Foi is said to have resigned because of corruption. In addition, according to Falana, Ali Modu Sheriff and Boko Haram went separate ways after the resignation of Foi. He says the sect has accused Sheriff of being the architect of the extrajudicial killings of Foi and Mohammed Yusuf who was his Father-in-law and the leader of Boko Haram.

Yusuf officially founded the group in 2002 in the city of Maiduguri with the aim of establishing a Shari'a government in Borno State under Ali Modu Sheriff who was the then-senator. All these while the borno state government & northerners knew but never took any step to stop them instead they encouraged them,no proper investigation was made by the Nigerian government, thereby giving bokoharam the power to gain more grounds recruiting more youths. They have become a version of the Al-Qaeda,which they align with and respect.Today they have trained loyalists who are ready to die for the movement,'operation you can't bite the hand that fed you',they continue to brainwash them while they provide food for them. Believe it or not with the current security apparatus in the Country,Nigeria will never win the war against its newest challenge-terrorism.This was the same yusuf according to Wikipedia had four wives and 12 children.

Nigerian academic Hussain Zakaria told BBC News that the controversial cleric had a graduate education, spoke proficient English, lived a lavish lifestyle and drove a Mercedes-Benz.He still go as far as to  establishing a religious complex that included a mosque and a school where many poor families from across Nigeria and from neighboring countries enrolled their children. Imagine how many children the yusuf regime would have convinced into believing  the 72 virgins storyline all these while.

The centre had ulterior political goals and soon it was also working as a recruiting ground for future jihadis to fight the state. They didn't only recruit Nigerians during what I call 'the initiation' The group includes members who come from neighboring Chad and Niger and speak only Arabic.

In 2004 the complex was relocated to Yusuf's home state of Yobe in the village Kanamma near the Niger border(No Arrest Made by the government).Yusuf was killed on july 30, 2009.Tell me,what difference at this point does it make.

Human Rights Watch researcher Eric Guttschuss told IRIN News that Yusuf successfully attracted followers from unemployed youth "by speaking out against police and political corruption(All these while,No investigation)." Most northerners  added that violent uprisings in Nigeria are ultimately due to "the fallout of frustration with corruption and the attendant social malaise of poverty and unemployment."Today boko haram is doing more harm than good to them and tarnishing the image of Nigeria.
