Manchester United look set to be without Wayne Rooney when they travel to Anfield to face bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
The England international is expected to miss the clash after requiring stitches to a head injury sustained a training ground collision on Saturday.
The 27-year-old left United's Carrington complex with his head wrapped in bandages, and could now be forced to sit out the trip to Merseyside for what is expected to be a pulsating affair.
Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson will also be monitoring the forward closely ahead of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.
