Brown was shot and killed by a Ferguson, Missouri police officer on Saturday. He was unarmed.
In the second police killing to recently make national headlines, the death of 18-year-old Mike Brown has sparked outrage. After the St. Louis, MO young man was gunned down by police, local community members as well as organizational activists have protested the investigation of Brown’s death. Now, Brown’s friend Dorian Johnson - who was at the scene of his killing - has given a firsthand account of the tragedy.
“His exact words were get the f—k on the sidewalk,” Johnson told MSNBC of one of the officers who stopped him and Brown on their walk to his house. Relaying an account of how the officer then proceeded to choke Brown, Johnson refuted claims of Brown being aggressive toward the police.
“They’re not wrestling so much as his arm went from his throat to now clenched on his shirt,” he said. “It’s like tug of war. He’s trying to pull him in. He’s pulling away, that’s when I heard, ‘I’m gonna shoot you.’”
