Political thugs attacked the convoy of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state yesterday during door to door campaign rally at Obio Akpor the hometown of the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike.

The political thugs reportedly attacked Mr. Amaechi with stones and bottles before setting up bonfires to obstruct his movement out of town. As the governor’s convoy maneuvered their way out of the chaos, the thugs reportedly fired shots at the governor’s car.
Reports says that a deadly combination of efforts between Nigeria’s first lady, Patience Jonathan and Mr. Wike has Rivers state choked by its jugular. The duo has provided funding and weaponry to political thugs to unleash violence again supporters of the APC in an attempt to forestall electoral victory for the opposition in the state
