Man Arrested After Returning Gold Chain He Stole At Gunpoint Because It Was Fake

Abraham - May 08, 2015
A Florida man who snatched a gold chain off a tourist’s neck and ran off was arrested after he came back to return the necklace because it was fake.
The incident occurred April 30. Daniel Palmer, 26, was armed with a handgun when he approached a group of friends on a South Beach sidewalk, Local 10 reported.

Palmer allegedly pointed his gun at a man, snatched a gold chain off his neck and ran off, police said. But the thief quickly realized that the chain was fake. He returned only a couple of minutes later in a white Mercedes-Benz to confront his victim about his fake gold necklace, according to an arrest report.

The victim, who was from New York, was able to flag down some officers and told them what car the suspect was in. Police said they attempted to stop Palmer, but he took off at a “high rate of speed.”
The chase did not last very long. Palmer was arrested and is being held without bond. He is now facing charges of armed robbery, fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, and possession of a suspended license, CBS local reported.
