#SheyiRuns:Why I Think The New Adsense ‘Contributor’ Is Unnecessary

Abraham - November 23, 2015

Contributor

Last week I got an email from google informing me about the new google adsense contributor……

The new Adsense ‘contributor’ may not be the best afterall. The reason behind this is very simple.

Oh! yeah! What is the New adsense Contributor all about, you want to KNOW, …Well,

Contributor is a new source of revenue for your sites, funded directly by your site visitors. With Contributor, users pick a monthly contribution level (either $2, $5, or $10) and those funds are used to pay for your site—instead of ads. The result is that users see fewer ads and you still get paid.

Here’s how it works: when Contributor users visit a site in Google’s network, their monthly contribution is used to bid on their behalf in the ad auction—so they end up buying the ad slot rather than a traditional advertiser. The more they contribute, the fewer ads they see, and you still get paid.

Like I was saying before the interruption Open-mouthed smile, The reason why I said it wasn’t necessary or might not work ; Google thinks visitors hates ads so much that they would pay to get it off their favourite sites.

Now, Google make us understand that, The fact our users pay doesn’t grant them a 100% ad free website when they visit, but the more they contribute, the fewer ads they tend to stumble on.

Over the years, Some Visitors have admitted that while some ads are useful, others can be annoying, So they decide to get adblock on their browser to block out annoying Ads. The guy who created the adblock never thought it did be worth selling some day. Today, adblock got a buyer…….. with the new owner, The adblock became powerless. It now block selected ads.

Now, I guess google was trying to take advantage of this to help publishers earn money through this means (Something Like: You don’t want to see Ads on my Site? Then Contribute) That’s the Logic. The Question is who will pay? NB: Its not a one time payment, its Monthly.

And remember, you’re only blocking ads on ONE site. What about the rest of the pages on the Internet? Is blocking SOME ads on ONE site going to be THAT valuable to people?

Donation’s cool, I’ve made some donations back then to at least two developers who created an amazing software useful for me and I’ve also shared countless posts by them, just to support But paying a ‘Monthly Fee’ to see fewer ads seems crazy.

I checked out Lisa’s Blog and she made something clear:

there are people who have a difficult time monetizing their sites due to lack of relevant ads, lack of affiliate programs, etc. This happens a lot with entertainment related sites. Again, that’s where donation buttons are a perfect fit.

This means google should have just Make this Donation Button for those who are On/not on adsense or any affiliate programs, giving them means to earn cash. Visitors could contribute what they can afford if they like the site’s write-up or info.

How To Enable And Disable Contributor

If you wish to enable or disable contributor.

Login to your account and click the “Allow and Block Ads” from the main menu. Now select the ‘Ad Networks’ tab. Search for ‘Contributor’, and then click to turn On'/Off.

Thanks for reading Guys but Seriously I don’t know why I wrote this because, Our dear Adsense said that ……

For now, Contributor works best on sites with a significant user base in the U.S as they hope to add international support soon.

Unfortunately, My Home is far from US.

What do you think about the ‘Contributor’, Do you think its Okay or not. I also want to know if you think I’m wrong,……always open to your humble opinions.
