#Sheyiruns: 5 Interesting Reasons Why You Should Marry A Typical Nigerian Woman

Abraham - March 14, 2016
Nigerian women are not only very beautiful but wise. People often say Nigerian women love money, the question is, who doesn’t? Every woman wants a man that can take good care of her and Nigerian women are no exception. For those of you, who may be looking for a strong reason to get hitch with a Nigerian woman. Check out the reasons.

1. Culinary prowess: Cooking from an early age is something most Nigerian moms teach their young daughters and like they say, pratcise makes perfect. So you are sure to have your Nigerian wife thrill you everyday for the rest of your life with the most delicious meals. All you have to do for this is show them love.

2. Homely: An average Nigerian girl is groomed from birth to be everything a man would expect of a woman and a wife. She is taught what it takes to keep a home from a tender age. Being submissive to her husband and treating him like a king is part of what she is made to learn from her mother. Marriage requires a lot to work and a Nigerian girl knows that and she’s ready for it.

3. Family-Oriented: This is an important thing to every Nigerian. A Nigerian knows what it takes to uphold values and what that means is that, your Nigerian wife before marrying you would have been taught to stick with you and make your marriage work as divorce is not part on the Nigerian culture. Therefore, an average Nigerian woman would do all she can to make her marriage work – if she perhaps want out, she must have exhausted all means of fixing the marriage.

4. Hardworking: A Nigerian woman wouldn’t sit back and allow you do all the work. She has been groomed to contribute her own quota to the success of the family. They are taught to be self-reliant and useful.

5. Beautiful and smart: Whether they have formal education or not, an average Nigerian woman is smart. In fact the typical Nigerian situation has taught all its citizens to be the best they can be. And to add to it, a Nigerian woman is beautiful. Genevive Nnaji, Omotola Jalade, Stella Damasus all give credence to this.

#Sheyiruns: Tips On How To Speed Up A Slow Computer.

Abraham - March 08, 2016

One of the characteristics of a computer system is speed, so if your own computer has loses it's speed then you have a problem. In some computer cases, if i'm to boil water and power on some PC surely my water would boil even before some pc finish booting to window enviroment. The slow booting of a computer system to the window enviroment can be traced to some software which would run automatically as soon as you power on your computer which are located at the bottom right hand corner of the computer screen. This can be fixed by clicking on few things..

Steps to make pc boot faster:

(1) Click on "START BUTTON" and navigate to "run"
(2) Then type: Msconfig and click run
(3) A window will pop up then click "STARTUP"
(4) Now you would be presented with bunch of filenames and addressess and boxes with checks in them. Uncheck all the boxes(if possible) then click apply and ok.
Now the computer will ask if you will like to restart. Restart the system and the settings will kick in.
Note: You can use a software called "BOOTVis" to speed up booting automatically"

#Sheyiruns: Seven ATM Card Safety Tips You Should Know

Abraham - February 21, 2016
Today, I will be sharing with you top 7 safety tips on how you can use your Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card for online and offline transactions.

Follow me as I lead you.

1. Keep your PIN Secret: DO NOT write your Personal Identification Number (PIN) on paper or give it out to anyone, including friends and family, and do not reveal it to anyone over the phone. Avoid using numbers that are easily identified (birth date, phone number, etc.) with your personal identity. Report lost or stolen cards immediately to your bank.

2. Review your card account frequently: If you notice any irregularities e.g. charges on items you didn’t order, cash withdrawals you didn’t make, etc. Put a call to your bank immediately to report this.

3. Always check your email for transaction updates: The email notification service is free and compulsory for the safety of your account. To enroll for this service visit your bank branch near you.

4. Hotlist immediately: If your card is retracted at an ATM, be sure to hotlist your card while you are still at the ATM. To hotlist your card, kindly send ‘HOTLIST<NUBAN>’ to 08076665555 for Gtbank.

5. Keep your eye on your card: Ensure your card is in your clear view whenever an attendant at a shop wants to swipe your card. DO NOT allow the attendant take your card into an inner room or enter your PIN on your behalf.

6. Free Trials are not ‘free’. If you initiate a trial subscription with a merchant, make sure you go back to the website to cancel your account before your free trial expires. Otherwise, you will be charged by them in subsequent months.

7. Carefully Read the Terms and Conditions when making reservations as some reservations are non-refundable. Make sure you cancel your reservation on or before the due date to prevent no-show charges if you do not show up.

If you follow this tips very well, you won't have issues using your ATM card and the complains to the banks will stop.

#Sheyiruns: Four Things I’ve Never Seen As A Nigerian

Abraham - February 15, 2016

1. 120 Hours of Electricity:
It seemed that we only had light when an intern was being shown around the PHCN building that controls our light. Then the tour guide would pull down the lever, so there will be light, then he’ll say to the intern, “now that’s how to turn the light on, and this is how to turn it off.” With that, the light goes off again until another intern is being shown around, three weeks later.

2. A Yoruba movie without juju:
Yes o. This one is impossible. It’s like saying you want to cook egusi soup without using egusi; or you want to sleep without closing your eyes. A Yoruba movie without some voodoo in the plot has not existed yet. Babalawo ti take over!

3. An Albino’s Obituary Poster:
There is no need to explain what an albino is. The thing people need to explain is why no one has ever seen an obituary poster for an albino. Or have you ever seen one? A conspiratory theory might say that albinos don’t die. Hmm. Maybe they have a point.

4. A Female Obioma:
‘Obioma’ is a name given to people who carry small sewing machines around from house to house, street to street to mend clothes at your doorstep. My entire life, I have never seen a woman do this job. It seems to be restricted in some way, to only the men folk. If you have ever seen a female obioma, maybe it was in a nollywood movie- oh, or a dream.

Sheyiruns: 5 Reasons I Think Don Jazzy Might Be The Greatest Nigerian Producer

Abraham - February 08, 2016
Don Jazzy is undoubtedly one of the hottest producers in Nigeria right now, and that’s without a question. But could he be the greatest Nigerian producer ever?
Here why I think So...

1. Some Of The Best Hits and Albums
Don Jazzy’s discography is simply outstanding, and when you look at it, he’s been directly responsible for the production of some of the greatest Nigerian albums of the past decade; Dbanj – No Long Thing (2005), Dbanj – RunDown Funk U Up (2006), Dbanj – Entertainer (2008), Wande Coal – Mushin To Mohits (2009), Mo-Hits All Stars (2008), Dr SID – Turning Point (2010, Mavins – Solar Plexus (2012).
And the singles? Way too many to list out but let’s highlight the big ones, Dbanj – Fall In Love, Wande Coal – Bumper to Bumper, D’Prince – Omoba, Dbanj – Gbono Feli Feli, Dr Sid – Over The Moon, Dbanj – Oliver Twist, Mavins – Dorobucci, Dr Sid – Surulere and the list can go on and on.

2. He Can Reinvent Himself
Usually when big break ups happen like the break up of Mo-Hits, it tends to spell the beginning of the end for all parties. Everyone figured Dbanj and Don Jazzy would go on to have decent careers but most predictions had it that it’ll never be as high as it was.

Fast forward 3 years, and Don Jazzy has reinvented himself and re-branded in the name of Mavins, and has amassed a whole new squad of hit makers in Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, Dija, Reekado Banks and D’Prince. He’s found a way to have the hottest record label in Nigeria once again. Talk about bouncing back up like a rubber ball.

3. Made Some Big Artists
Dbanj, Wande Coal, Dr Sid and D’Prince all owe a huge amount of their success to aligning themselves up with Don Jazzy. It’s an outstanding attribute to have the ability to harness someone’s talent and kick it into high gear. With Korede Bello, Dija, and Reekado Banks slowly becoming household names, it’s clear that Don Jazzy’s earlier achievements is no fluke.

4. Social Media Promo
One thing is clear about Don Jazzy. He doesn’t just understand music, he understands entertainment and the ability to use modern tools to market it. When you take a look at how huge Oliver Twist got with the competition, how Doro in Dorobucci became the slang of 2015, and other major social media trends he’s created just from his music, you realize that Don Baba J is not just a beat maker, but a entertainment business mogul.

5. Longevity
It’s been a solid 13 years that Don Jazzy has been active in the industry, and it’s interesting that there aren’t many moments where he is not in the conversation as being the best producer at that moment. With his ability to reinvent himself, pick out talent, and harness it, you can see Don Jazzy being in the game till he decides he’s tired or maybe creates a product and chills out like Dr Dre.

#Sheyiruns: How To Fix Blue Screen Of Death & System Auto Restart Issue

Abraham - February 01, 2016
Blue Screen of Death, otherwise known as BSOD, STOP or blue screen, is a common error that happens once or twice in the life of every computer. This error comes in many forms; sometimes, it just comes up and hangs your PC. At other times, it simply restarts your PC immediately, after displaying the blue screen error.

What causes BSOD?

BSOD is usually caused by recently installed programs or viruses, that tamper with the Windows Essential Files, modifying them and thereby making them unsable by Windows. This results in the BSOD. This can be really frustrating, especially if you are working on a very important project on your PC. This guide will show you how to fix the BSOD in just some simple steps.

How do I fix BSOD?

Depending on the kind of BSOD error, it can sometimes take hours to fix. The first step you should take is by asking yourself what you just did on your PC, which resulted in the BSOD. And after you downloaded and installed, what happened next? BSOD!!!

Easiest Methods to Resolve BSOD

- Uninstall any newly installed program(s)

- Boot your PC using Last Known Good Configuration (while system is booting keeping pressing the F8 button to to undo recent registry and driver changes.

After trying all the above and they don't fix your BSOD error, do not panic. Hope is not lost.

Final Solution

- Download this program: Blue Screen of Death Fixer - http://www.datafilehost.com/d/74dcf5ba

- Run Installer

#Sheyiruns:Things That Could Make You Hate Lagos As A JJC

Abraham - January 25, 2016
Its always been the good part of Lagos all day, Now let's talk about the negative.
Lagos state is a land of opportunities. It is the commercial capital of Nigeria with unofficially a population of 23 million people 'hustling' to have a bite of the good fortunes of the land. Lagos has a couple of adverse sides a newcomer will have to adapt to and live with.

Below are some common reasons you may never to come to Lagos state:

Traffic:

Lagos is highly populated with thousands of people plying limited road networks to work early in the morning and also returning late in the evening. There have been several cases of people spending over 5hrs in traffic merely moving from Mainland to the Island in Lagos. This poses a huge challenge in the movement of goods and services.

Cost of accommodation:

Rent in Lagos is very expensive. Most landlords will only rent their houses out if you are ready to pay a 2-year rent. You go through agents who will demand a large sum of money. The 'agreement fee' at times is much enough to rent a two bedroom flat in a cheap area like Ibadan.

The beggars:

The beggars in Lagos come in different dimensions. Someone can appear smarter and more expensive than you in Lagos and still beg you for money. They constantly stop you with pitiful stories and faces. Ignoring them sometimes has a way of affecting one's conscience especially if you are the soft type.

Incessant cases of traffic robbery:

CMS, Mile 2, Ikorodu, Orile, Iyana Oba and several other areas have high records of traffic robbers who dispose commuters of their hard-earned belongings.

Transport cost:

In Lagos people tend to draw a scale of preference on movement. Movement to work is mandatory while others can wait except too important due to the high cost of moving around. For this reasons, most friendships are relegated to online interactions and nothing more.

Congestion:

Lagos is too congested with people. The town planning system of some areas like Satellite town in Amuwo Odofin, Mushin, Okokomaiko, Ajegunle, Oyingbo etc is very poor which affects the ventilation in houses. This could frustrate a newcomer especially when the weather is sunny.

Milking Churches :

A close study of some churches in Lagos has brought me to the conclusion that some preachings are directed at the congregation's pockets. The churches are always in need of one thing or the other. The speakers psyche you up to even drop what you don't have by faith.

The level of hypocrisy in Lagos is epic:

That club girl that was dancing like a possessed person at the club on a Friday night with that skimpy cloth that puts her endowments on display maybe the sister leading the praise and worship session in a church on Sunday,

but Hey! Like I've always said....This is why Lagos is best place for anyone 'Survival Of The Fittest'.

Everyone takes up different characters just to bring the money home and pay bills.

Sheyiruns:The New BRT Buses In Lagos -Things To Know

Abraham - January 18, 2016

Most times, the rate at which some passengers behave while boarding BRT buses are so alarming that some go to the extent of sleeping, thereby forgetting when they have gotten to their initial destinations.
Ever since the operation of the fully new air conditioned buses within Lagos metropolitan city began, virtually 99% percent of Lagosians have resorted in patronizing them; maybe due to comfort and subsidized transport fare.
So, because of several complaints by passengers, I have personally made out time to advise people on what do avoid while patronizing this new BRT buses.

1: DON'T JUMP THE QUEUE
No matter how placed in the society you may be, kindly respect yourself and abide by the queue order. Most times when you see a long queue, just wait patiently until it get to your turn. Any attempt by violating this order may lead to your harassment either by the long awaited passengers or security guards. Just humble yourself and vamoose from the area because you won't believe how much insult you will receive.

2: DON'T BUY TICKET AHEAD OF NEXT DAY
Funny as it may sound, some people most times buy ticket ahead of next day without knowing that it expires 24hrs of purchase. This is to avoid dubious means by few hands in printing tickets that has similar resemblance with the new one. As soon as you purchase your ticket, bear in mind that you can't use it the next day.

3: TRANS LOADING
Many a times passengers complain that why should Busman take them into another bus without proper information. Please, bear in mind that busmen don't apply all rout withing their jurisdictions. If you are told to alight so that you will transfered to the next bus going to Ikorodu for instance, just be patient and allow the Busman to do so. In the absent of bus man action, kindly bring on the attention of security personnel within the premises for easy trans load.

4: DON'T FORGET TO PRESS ALIGHT BUTTON
I know that sometimes air condition bus or car makes someone sleep, but please no matter how weak you may be, just inform anyone next to you to alert you when thet get to certain bus stop. This is to avoid the story that touches the heart. Kindly press the warning bell before the bus stop and press the second time 6 seconds before your final destination.

5: DON'T FORGET YOUR BELONGINGS
Why on earth should some people even forget foodstuff they went to market to buy with their hard earn money. One handsome guy was telling me the other day that he forgot his CPU and the said he forgot his Laptop. Some women even forget hand bag with many things on it. Please, try and keep your belongings like a baby with you to avoid the story that touches the heart. Most of the strong reported lost times have not been found maybe because some criminals near to the victim who may have taken advantage of that situation.

6: DON'T FORGET TO TAP OUT WHEN ALIGHTING

Some people are so careless that immediately they alight they forget to tap out. Please, the card you are using can help you mar you if you are careful. As soon as get you your final destination, just kindly tap out because failure to do so will amount to your balance being withdrawn. I don't know why it is so but as soon as you get your card, don't fail to tap out because you might see your account empty next time.
I believe that, with this little information ,you can enjoy a smooth journey withing Lagos metropolitan city.

#Sheyiruns: 5 Reasons Why NETFLIX In Nigeria Is A Good News

Abraham - January 12, 2016
I know you will still ‘Netflix and chill’ later. But before then, let me highlight a few reasons why I think you’re all right to be super excited that the world’s number one video-on-demand platform has found its way into the Nigerian market.

Nollywood people, you people should be excited too.

1. We can actually now ‘Netflix and chill’ in Nigeria. Many of us have been viewing that tagline with massive envy since its creation. We were left to wonder if we would ever have a world so wonderful. But, dreams come true and here we are!
Let the chilling begin people.

2. Prior to this launch, iROKO TV was the name that came to mind whenever we thought about video streaming in Nigeria. Jason Njoku‘s platform has been growing steadily and he recently announced that they were going international. Numerous filmmakers have been groaning about how they were being allegedly cheated by Njoku and co. Now, there is some competition, so to say. And it’s Nexflix, baby.

3. This VOD platform automatically translates to a wider reach for Nollywood films. It is now in almost all major markets in the world, except Japan. If the reach that Netflix provides is not good news, what is?
Be warned, however. With increased reach comes increased expectation in quality or so the saying goes.

4. Anything. Just anything to ensure that those pirates have fewer avenues to pirate the hard work and sweat of filmmakers and industry practitioners.
Netflix means that filmmakers have an extra avenue to make money and get some reward for the human, financial and technical resources they have invested in their movies and shows.

5. Shares. Within an hour of the announcement about Netflix adding more than 130 countries to its service reach, shares of the company went up by 6%. Netflix shares spiked by almost 140% in 2015.
Its CEO, Hastings is worth more than $1.5 billion due to his stake in the company.

#Sheyiruns:13 Powerful Ways To Transform Yourself For The New Year

Abraham - January 04, 2016
Are you looking for inventive ways to transform yourself for the New Year? A lot of people do that come January. After all — new year, new you, right? There are lots of ways you can better yourself this year, whether you make resolutions or not. Here are 13 powerful ways to transform yourself for the New Year. See if they suit you, if they ring any bells, or if you think any of these are something you would like to do!

1. GET A NEW ATTITUDE

It’s a perfect time to get a new attitude. That doesn’t mean you have to completely reinvent your attitude. You might simply want to start thinking more positively, or you may want to stop sweating the small things. Either way, it’s a perfect time for this kind of change, which is one of the most enriching ways to transform yourself for the New Year.

2. STOP PROCRASTINATING

I think everyone procrastinates at some point, over some things. I do it all the time even when I know I shouldn’t be doing it. The #beginning of the year is a great time to stop. Start planning the things you have to do and give yourself more time to do them. It will mean there will be much less stress in your life, and everyone can benefit from less stress, don’t you think?

3. GRAB A NEW HOBBY

Is there a hobby you’ve been wanting to try? Do you want to learn how to knit, roller blade, or go kite boarding? Now is the perfect time to do it – or to start planning it, because I would never recommend rollerblading when it’s icy outside. Whatever the case, it’s the ideal time for a new hobby. If it’s something you can do indoors or something that’s snow friendly, more so the better!

4. CREATE SOME SPACE FOR YOU

Everyone needs space and it’s high time you had some for yourself. That might mean creating a meditation space, or cleaning out the junk room to make a spot for relaxation. Make sure you have a place you can go when you need to get away from #everything. That, too, will make for much less stress in the New Year.

5. TRY A NEW HAIRCUT

Sometimes, when you want to try something new and bold, fear of change keeps you from doing that. Haircuts are a great example of that. Don’t let anything stop you from trying a new look. Remember, hair grows back. If you don’t like what you do with your #hair, it will back to normal way before the next new year. What have you got to lose?

6. CHANGE UP YOUR DIET

Starting a new, healthier diet is hard to do, too. No matter how much you want to, taking that first step is always the hardest part. Don’t let yourself make anymore excuses for it. It’s a brand new year, so incorporate healthier foods into your diet. Try new things. Learn new recipes. Try different cultural cuisines!

READ ALSO: Must Read: Taking Back You Life And Staying Focus

7. REFRESH YOUR LOVE LIFE

Whether you are single or in a #relationship, married or just dating, it’s a great time to give your love life a refresher course. Try new things with your #partner, or do new things so you can meet someone. Take risks, do something you’ve always wanted to do, and make sure that the New Year extends to creating new memories and having new experiences.

8. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Sometimes the best way to transform yourself is to do something that is out of your comfort zone. You have spent the whole year doing things that you are comfortable with and although there is nothing wrong with that, I think it is time to actually experience something new. Personally, I believe that constantly challenging yourself and trying something new will not only add some spice to your life, but teach you more about the real #world.

9. MEET NEW PEOPLE

New year calls for new people in your life. There are no drawbacks to meeting new #people! Making connections and long-lasting friendships can help you find your sense of self and expose you to new adventures. What I have come to learn over the years is that with each person you meet comes a new life lesson or a new discovery. So make sure to expand your circle of friends over the course of the new year.

10. SWITCH UP YOUR WARDROBE

Of course what better way to transform yourself than by freshening up your wardrobe. It is hard to feel different and improved when you are still wearing the same old clothes from years before. New wardrobe can completely transform you into a different person and help you start the year with a clean slate.

11. MAKE NEW GOALS

Setting new goals can help you transform your attitude for the new year. In fact motivation can completely change the way a person acts, so what more of an appropriate #time to set new goals than the beginning of the new year! However let’s #face it, nobody ever follows their New Year’s resolutions, so let’s just call these your new lifetime goals!

12. CONQUER ONE OF YOUR FEARS

If you are ready to revamp yourself completely, why not change your mind set and conquer one of your fears! So if you are afraid of heights, go bungee jumping or even if you are afraid of something as small as a dog, then try to interact with one! This won’t just be cleansing but also liberating and motivational!

13. MAKE A CHANGE

Sick of your job or the place where you live? Then don’t be afraid to make a big change and do something! The best way to start off a year is to get rid of all of the things that bother you and move on to #things that make you happy. So if you are not happy where you are in your life currently don’t be afraid to go for big changes, because they always yield big results that might be for the best.

There are so many ways you can transform yourself in the New Year. These are just a few of them. Do they seem like good ideas to you? If not, what do you #look forward to doing in 2016?

#SheyiRuns:Why I Think The New Adsense ‘Contributor’ Is Unnecessary

Abraham - November 23, 2015

Contributor

Last week I got an email from google informing me about the new google adsense contributor……

The new Adsense ‘contributor’ may not be the best afterall. The reason behind this is very simple.

Oh! yeah! What is the New adsense Contributor all about, you want to KNOW, …Well,

Contributor is a new source of revenue for your sites, funded directly by your site visitors. With Contributor, users pick a monthly contribution level (either $2, $5, or $10) and those funds are used to pay for your site—instead of ads. The result is that users see fewer ads and you still get paid.

Here’s how it works: when Contributor users visit a site in Google’s network, their monthly contribution is used to bid on their behalf in the ad auction—so they end up buying the ad slot rather than a traditional advertiser. The more they contribute, the fewer ads they see, and you still get paid.

Like I was saying before the interruption Open-mouthed smile, The reason why I said it wasn’t necessary or might not work ; Google thinks visitors hates ads so much that they would pay to get it off their favourite sites.

contributor

Now, Google make us understand that, The fact our users pay doesn’t grant them a 100% ad free website when they visit, but the more they contribute, the fewer ads they tend to stumble on.

Over the years, Some Visitors have admitted that while some ads are useful, others can be annoying, So they decide to get adblock on their browser to block out annoying Ads. The guy who created the adblock never thought it did be worth selling some day. Today, adblock got a buyer…….. with the new owner, The adblock became powerless. It now block selected ads.

Now, I guess google was trying to take advantage of this to help publishers earn money through this means (Something Like: You don’t want to see Ads on my Site? Then Contribute) That’s the Logic. The Question is who will pay? NB: Its not a one time payment, its Monthly.

And remember, you’re only blocking ads on ONE site. What about the rest of the pages on the Internet? Is blocking SOME ads on ONE site going to be THAT valuable to people?

Contributor badge

Donation’s cool, I’ve made some donations back then to at least two developers who created an amazing software useful for me and I’ve also shared countless posts by them, just to support But paying a ‘Monthly Fee’ to see fewer ads seems crazy.

I checked out Lisa’s Blog and she made something clear:

there are people who have a difficult time monetizing their sites due to lack of relevant ads, lack of affiliate programs, etc. This happens a lot with entertainment related sites. Again, that’s where donation buttons are a perfect fit.

This means google should have just Make this Donation Button for those who are On/not on adsense or any affiliate programs, giving them means to earn cash. Visitors could contribute what they can afford if they like the site’s write-up or info.

How To Enable And Disable Contributor

If you wish to enable or disable contributor.

Login to your account and click the “Allow and Block Ads” from the main menu. Now select the ‘Ad Networks’ tab. Search for ‘Contributor’, and then click to turn On'/Off.

blockedcontributor

Thanks for reading Guys but Seriously I don’t know why I wrote this because, Our dear Adsense said that ……

For now, Contributor works best on sites with a significant user base in the U.S as they hope to add international support soon.

Unfortunately, My Home is far from US.

What do you think about the ‘Contributor’, Do you think its Okay or not. I also want to know if you think I’m wrong,……always open to your humble opinions.

#Sheyiruns: What I Do When I Feel Like Giving Up

Abraham - October 26, 2015

I am struggling today. If you’ve ever struggled to be consistent with something you care about, maybe my struggle will resonate with you too.

i-give-up-

But today? Well, today I am struggling. Today, I don’t feel like writing. Today, I don’t feel like sticking to the routine. Today, I don’t feel like I have any great ideas and I don’t feel like I have enough time to make the good ideas great. Today, I feel like giving up.

Research from the University of Pennsylvania has shown that grit is the characteristic linked most closely to success. I could use some grit today.

Here’s what I try to remind myself of when I feel like giving up…

Your Mind is a Suggestion Engine

Consider every thought you have as a suggestion, not an order. Right now, my mind is suggesting that I feel tired. It is suggesting that I give up. It is suggesting that I take an easier path.

If I pause for a moment, however, I can discover new suggestions. My mind is also suggesting that I will feel very good about accomplishing this work once it is done. It is suggesting that I will respect the identity I am building when I stick to the schedule. It is suggesting that I have the ability to finish this task, even when I don’t feel like.

Remember, none of these suggestions are orders. They are merely options. I have the power to choose which option I follow.

Discomfort Is Temporary

Relative to the time in your normal day or week, nearly any habit you perform is over quickly. Your workout will be finished in an hour or two. Your report will be typed to completion by tomorrow morning. This article will be finished in just a moment.

Life is easier now than it has ever been. 300 years ago, if you didn’t kill your own food and build your own house, you would die. Today, we whine about forgetting our iPhone charger.

Maintain perspective. Your life is good and your discomfort is temporary. Step into this moment of discomfort and let it strengthen you.

You Will Never Regret Good Work Once It is Done

Theodore Roosevelt famously said, “Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” So often it seems that we want to work easily at work worth doing. We want our work to be helpful and respected, but we do not want to struggle through our work. We want our stomachs to be flat and our arms to be strong, but we do not want to grind through another workout. We want the final result, but not the failed attempts that precede it. We want the gold, but not the grind.

Anyone can want a gold medal. Few people want to train like an Olympian.

And yet, despite our resistance to it, I have never found myself feeling worse after the hard work was done. There have been days when it was damn hard to start, but it was always worth finishing. Sometimes, the simple act of showing up and having the courage to do the work, even in an average manner, is a victory worth celebrating.

This Is Life

Life is a constant balance between giving into the ease of distraction or overcoming the pain of discipline. It is not an exaggeration to say that our lives and our identities are defined in this delicate balance. What is life, if not the sum of a hundred thousand daily battles and tiny decisions to either gut it out or give it up?

This moment when you don’t feel like doing the work? This is not a moment to be thrown away. This is not a dress rehearsal. This moment is your life as much as any other moment. Spend it in a way that will make you proud.

Let the World Decide

So, what do I do when I feel like giving up? I show up.

Do I show up at my best? I doubt it. But my job isn’t to judge how good or how bad I am.

#Sheyiruns: Top Ten Secrets About Men

Abraham - October 19, 2015
AndWePresent.com_
— Being too rich and good-looking can actually hurt a man. Then again, marriage may be a bad deal for handsome guys.
Women appear to exhibit a subtle reluctance to engage in long-term relationships with physically attractive, high-status men. They propose that this bias away from men of very high market value is based on fear that these males may desert a relationship and also on the comparative self-perceived market value of the women.

— You can predict how many women a man has slept with by how funny he is.
3ways_meet_guys-1-1
Structural equation models showed that general and verbal intelligence both predict humor production ability, which in turn predicts mating success, such as lifetime number of sexual partners. Also, males showed higher average humor production ability. These results suggest that the human sense of humor evolved at least partly through sexual selection as an intelligence-indicator.

— Yes, most TV commercials make men look like morons.
Ad
A sample of 477 commercials featuring domestic chores that aired in a week of primetime television programming on all of the broadcast networks was analyzed. Among the key findings: Male characters’ performance of chores was often humorously inept as measured by negative responses from others, lack of success, and unsatisfactory outcomes.

— Companies pay women more if a male CEO has a daughter.
42-22817956
when a daughter was born to a male CEO, wages paid to the CEO’s female employees rose relative to the wages paid to male employees. The effect was stronger for the first daughter, and stronger still if the first daughter was also the first child. The birth of a daughter to a male CEO particularly benefitted women who were more educated or who worked for smaller firms.

— Poor and hungry men prefer heavier women. Rich and full guys like skinny girls.
Skinny
The men with a sense of life’s scarcity wanted their women to carry some extra pounds, almost as if their partner’s fat could protect them against starvation. Those feeling flush wanted skinnier women.

— Attractive TV anchors make men unable to remember the news.
Don_Toolz
The most compelling visual cues of female sexual attractiveness (low waist-to-hip ratio). Male sees the sexualized version of an anchor as less suited for war and political reporting.

— What’s the chance that a man’s kids are not really his, biologically?
Guy and Babies
The bottom line is as follows:  If you commission a DNA paternity test, you have roughly a one-third chance of the child not being yours.  On the other hand, if you are confident that your wife has not had any extramarital dalliances then the probability of your having been cuckolded is very low (but still far from negligible).

— Punching things does make men feel better.
Angry
A public display of aggressive readiness reduced men’s anxiety-related cognitions in the wake of a gender threat.

— If men’s jobs didn’t affect their ability to attract women they’d be far less ambitious.
Sad-Black-man-gallery
What if a guy’s job had no effect on his value in the marriage market? How would that affect a young man’s career choices? He’d be a heck of a lot less ambitious.
if there were no returns to career choices in the marriage market, men would tend to work less, study less, and choose blue‐collar jobs over white‐collar jobs.

— Men fake orgasms too.
men_fake_orgasms3
Research shows that many women pretend or “fake” orgasm, but little is known about whether men pretend orgasm.
According to latest Report:
Both men (25%) and women (50%) reported pretending orgasm (28% and 67%, respectively, for PVI-experienced participants). Most pretended during PVI, but some pretended during oral sex, manual stimulation, and phone sex. Frequently reported reasons were that orgasm was unlikely, they wanted sex to end, and they wanted to avoid negative consequences (e.g., hurting their partner’s feelings) and to obtain positive consequences (e.g., pleasing their partner). Results suggest a sexual script in which women should orgasm before men, and men are responsible for women’s orgasms.
