Governor Fayose Blocks Roads In Ekiti With Buses And Bonfires To Avoid Impeachment[Photos]-SHR

To avoid getting impeached by legitimate lawmakers from Ekiti state for gross misconduct, Governor Ayodele Fayose has embarked on blocking roads leading to the state capital, Ado-Ekiti with buses, logs of wood and bonfires.

However, sources said that since losing the Presidential elections on March 28th, 2015, President Goodluck Jonathan has refused to provide military and police officers to continue the shenanigans that have propelled Mr. Faye’s impunity in the state. President Jonathan is reportedly busy packing out of the Presidential Villa in preparation for civilian life.

Overnight several parts of Ado-Ekiti were blocked by aides of Mr. Fayose, who had vowed to resist lawmakers led by the legitimate speaker of the house of assembly from accessing the state capital to commence Mr. Fayose’s impeachment. The speaker has vowed to commence and conclude the impeachment of the governor as soon as feasible.

18 members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have agreed to commence investigations into allegations of grave misconduct against Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The documents accusing Mr. Fayose of various acts of gross misconduct, a first step to his possible impeachment by the lawmakers.

In June 2014, Mr. Fayose, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), decisively won the governorship of Ekiti State after defeating then incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) throughout the state. However, a major shadow was cast over the PDP candidate’s victory when SaharaReporters uncovered an audiotape in which several PDP politicians, including then Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro, Minister for Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, former Senator Iyiola Omisore, and Mr. Fayose ordered Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh to use soldiers to intimidate and arrest APC members in a scheme to guarantee victory for the PDP governorship candidate.

One of the legislators in Ekiti State told our correspondent, “We are going to look at the allegations against Governor Ayodele Fayose in a responsible manner and make our decision in line with the rule of law and the overall interest of the people of the state.”

APC Drags Jonathan, Obanikoro, Fayose Others To International Criminal Court- SHR

The All Progressives Congress has asked the International Criminal Court in The Hague, to investigate President Goodluck Jonathan and eight others as regards an audio file which allegedly captured some Peoples Democratic Party’s leaders giving orders to a military officer on how to rig the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State in their favour, SHR reports this morning.

Apart from Jonathan, others named as accused persons in the petition are Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Musiliu Obanikoro; Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose; former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore; and Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh,

Others are Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Army’s 32nd Artillery Brigade Commander, Akure, Ondo State, Brig. Gen. Aliyu Momoh; a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Abdulkareem; and the Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan.

A copy of the petition dated March 25, 2015, read in part, “Essentially, the recording provides evidence of a clearly articulated strategy to militarise Ekiti and emasculate the opposition parties and their supporters as an approach to rigging the elections in favour of the PDP.

“The meeting was attended by top Federal Government officials including two ministers responsible for the Armed Forces and Police. Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who was then Minister of State for Defence, and Mr. Jelili Adesiyan, the serving Minister for Police Affairs, were senior government officials, who actively participated in the discussions.”

A copy of the petition sighted by our correspondent on Thursday was said to have been submitted to the office of the ICC prosecutor, Ms. Fatou Bensouda.
It was submitted on behalf of the APC by a United Kingdom-based human rights lawyer, Mr. Olukunle Omojuwa.

Fayose condemns Lagos APC 1-Million-Man March

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has recently described the planned One-Million-Man March by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos as a plot by the party to cause chaos in the state.

The governor also said that he had been vindicated by Buhari, having admitted that he actually travelled to the United Kingdom to rest and that he visited his doctors.
