#SheyiRuns: iPhone 7 Features, Rumours And Pictures

Abraham - July 27, 2015
When will the new iPhone 7 launch, and what new features can we expect in the next iPhone?
The iPhone may have done more than any other device to break down the divide between business and personal smartphones, and the iPhone 7 is likely to bring new benefits to both personal and professional customers.

iPhone 7 is an astonishingly hot topic, 10 months on from the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and two months before we're likely to hear any official news from Apple about its new iPhone launches for 2015. The web is full of speculation about the new iPhone(s) that will launch in 2015: rumours about the iPhone 7's release date, its design, specs and features, and even its name.iphone7iPhone 7
Reports of the next upgrade, likely to arrive in September and to be called either the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7, are already leaking out, and it seems likely that a series of small but significant tweaks to the software and hardware will add up to a significant change to Apple's core business customers.

When it comes to the iPhone 7's camera, the latest reports suggest that it could offer a significant improvement over the camera found in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. In fact, it could be the biggest camera jump in the history of the iPhone.

A report in the Financial Times [paywall] in late July suggests that smartphones with physical SIM cards may soon be a thing of the past, as Apple and other smartphone manufacturers come closer to agreeing a standard for a built-in software/electronic SIM.

The biggest new feature believed to be in the pipeline for the iPhone 7 is the introduction of Force Touch, which is likely to have particular benefits for business users. First developed for the Apple Watch, Force Touch is a pressure-sensitive touchscreen that can distinguish between a light touch and a longer, heavier press, and react differently to each. For example, a light tap on an email will open it for reading, while heavier pressure will launch the reply screen.

Battery life remains an Apple weak spot, and early reports about the iPhone 7 bring mixed news. One current rumour holds that Apple will take the battery developments it deployed in the 12-inch MacBook - whereby contoured, layered battery units are stacked inside the chassis in order to take up every possible inch of space - and use these to squeeze more battery volume inside the iPhone 7.
