#SheyiRuns: My Experience At The West Africa Bloggers Conference Day1 #WABCLagos2015

Yeah! Today was fun  at the West Africa Bloggers Conference. Invited guest were Tomi Ogunlesi of First Bank, Aleazi(Style Consultant Jumia Nigeria), Mr. Bayo Adekanmbi(CMO MTNNG), Clara Okoro - CEO Brand World Media, Yinka Olaito -,  Lead consultant Michael Sage Consulting Ltd, and of course Lanre Aina (GoogleNg). 


According to WABC Official press release:
The West Africa Bloggers Conference is a two-day conference aimed at Bloggers from across the West African countries. The event is scheduled for Lagos Nigeria at the Sheraton Hotel Ikeja and Berkeley Hotel Ikeja on May 15 and 16With blogging now fast becoming a lucrative business globally, WABC aims to offer learning opportunity to young West Africans on advanced blogging techniques, creative and branding strategies, revenue opportunities and structured business models, successful digital business principles and other topics that will prove advantageous for Bloggers in all fields. It will also provide a networking opportunity for the Bloggers to meet and share their knowledge.18 Workshop sessions 2 inspiration sessions 6 Panel sessions 2 interaction sessions

I had the opportunity to listen and interact with some of these great minds, Its a privilege for me. 

Tomi Ogunlesi of First Bank was able to shed light on some of the vital aspects of what you need as a blogger to get attentions and sponsors from big organisations and banks. He also talked about branding and other related issues. 
The goal is to see multi million naira businesses emerge from blogging at the end of the conference.

Other things He said were:
"Your blog can also work for any kind of niche, it doesn't have to be entertainment, fashion , etc"
"Attention span is so short now, Before you can put your ad on NTA and get the attention needed, Not now" 
The OLDER-ORDER Vs POST MODERNAdvertising, now co-creation and content Marketing.- You have to be able to design what people want Its not all about brand ambassador its about someone who can influence the behaviour 
 and he left with a rhetorical question:
How can we be more relevant to brand ??
Aleazi Akpuru(Style Consultant Jumia Nigeria), my crush of the day Talked about fashion, How big fashion bloggers started from scratch. She also talked about the life surrounding fashion and its challenges, with no much challenges as long as there is creativity you can make it big as a fashion blogger, its about racking the brain. 
She made it clear that Social media is a great means to reach to the world faster eg. Instagram.

Mr. Bayo Adekanmbi(CMO MTNNG) was one speaker I will never forget, He was able to clarify alot of misconceptions floating out there and produced a perfect solutions for them.
He talked about how to be creative enough to do something no one has ever done or redefine it in your own perfect way.

He talked about how bloggers can survive by sticking to a niche they are comfortable with and always ready to post relevant stuffs.
"Being Different and Original is the Key, you must be ready to persevere as a blogger with a difference,"
And one of his most interesting quotes was "You Dig, Dig, Dig until you find Gold"
Other things He said:
"Create your own niche and redefine the space by making it relevant for consumption" "A successful blogger most find a space and a place"" there are people who are influenced by little things that are not very common" You must have a sense of competitiveness 
"Everybody write but how many people will write in a way that will touch the mind of the reader"
He also talked about the Four Big M's In blogging:
MEANING - What do I want to mean, Create a space for yourself. Great writers dig, dig, dig till they find a gold A successful blogger most find a space and a place.
MANAGEMENT - Managing your audience.
MONETISATION - Creating quality post for everyone
MEASUREMENT - Get feedback and utilise it

The last but not the least was Lanre Aina Of GoogleNigeria, who took everyone through the statistics of how and when some of the biggest celebs in Nigeria started getting attentions, What online is intriguing people, How davido became Nigeria's favourite artiste and how He got the attention.

With the help of a projector He was able to elaborate more on this with a list

I guess we all know Dbanj should be out of the list any time soon, He got that based on past glory.
Most viral Video ever in Nigeria is "Beautiful Onyinye By Psquare ft Rickross", 67% Nigerians watched on Mobile phones. 
Lanre also talked about successful Vloggers like Olisa, Toke Makinwa, Ngozi, Yomi Black, etc who has making it big on youtube. 
I had the opportunity to get his email add because I might be needing his help anytime soon.
