#SheyiRuns: My Experience At The West Africa Bloggers Conference Day2 ‪#‎WABCLagos2015‬

Abraham - May 17, 2015

The WABC officially ends today, The conference should start by 9am but I got there by 10:30 because of the traffic around Ikeja. Yesterday I posted my Day 1 experience even though I was a little bit tired after the journey from the conference to where I reside and then post before hitting the shower.

Okay enough about me, If you missed my Day1 Experience, you can read it HERE

Now, Its Day 2 and I didn't go with my Nikon Camera, pretty bad but cool I got some pics from WABC Twitter page and google --- The guy to take on the first lecture was a fair young guy,

Donnie Franklin Ozekhome who is also a blogger talked from a blogger point of view, most the speakers has been brand management guru.
Donnie was on point talking about the DO's and DONT's in blogging, how to stand out as a blogger, tasking everyone to do something great because if a blogger or a writer is not a brand, He is a commodity.
I think there is no how you will talk about blogging without talking BRAND, both works Together and I do not think any experienced blogger can put asunder, they still have to say a thing about it.
Donnie Quoted Rian Hughes
"To understand consumers, you must understudy the culture in which they occupy"

Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade (Manage Communication And Public Relations-- GoogleNig.)
Kola is jovial, no doubt about that, but most important thing was what He talked about and that's "Intellectual property and the web(Copyright Infringement)". Now the goals were to get us to start thinking about the issues...,Drive an open conversation around it, shared his experiences home and abroad.

Taiwo Talked about Yomi Black [the Vlogger] and his parody of MI's Chairman Video, He also talked about "Gone with the Wind" and how Alice Bandall was able to do her own parody and named the novel "The Wind Done Gone".

He defined copyright infringement with the help of a projector He was able to carry everyone along. It was an interactive session, Bloggers got the chance to ask load of questions about this. We know a lot of bloggers out there would like to know what they've done wrong, the crime you commit by copy pasting and how you need to go about it.
After the issue about the crime facing Copy paste which changed the mood of some bloggers, The interesting thing was the Escape root Mr. Taiwo put out "FAIR USE".

"Now FAIR USE is the idea that should be Okay for a person to copy small part of something that another person have created without breaking the law "- Google Certified
He also expatiate on creative Commons, How to protect your youtube videos, protected digital works on individual and compilation.

Alero Ladipo (Chief Marketing Officer, Smile Communications)
Alero's session was also an interactive one, giving everyone Tips on how to promote their blogs by staying specialised and professional.
Professionalism Is being passionate about what you do
She also made Us understand that we could make our blog searchable and not let the effort waste, beautifying the blog, building a loyal audience, Knowing the target audience, Mingling with other bloggers and reaching out to influencers.

Dr. Bayero Agabi( AIT TV, also President/CEO Transatlantic media co. Ltd), (President, School of Media and communications, Pan atlantic University).

Dr. Bayero was straight to the point, few jokes and serious Talk about the new media ecosystem, stating that the New has also affected the way news get and circulate.
He talked about the media as a global medium, Asking about the difference between a journalist and a blogger? He threw out this question to everyone.
Now, I am directly asking you the readers:
What Is The Difference Between A Journalist And A Blogger ?
He also said a blogger must have these three important things: Knowledge, Skill and Understanding their environment.

Jonathan Doerr ( MD, Jumia)
Now, Jona [not the presido] is this white sarcastic guy who started his lecture by greeting everyone in yoruba "EkaSan(Good Afternoon)" Great dude but his mission was more of advert based lecture, since they the major sponsor, ---do We have a choice---.
He shed more light on the Jumia mobile week megathon, which is coming --- June 1 - 7, 2015. He extensively elaborated on it, answered questions, etc

Muyiwa (MTNNG)
He talked about the urgent need to simplify access to blog inorder to grow by turning attitude into APPtitude. I guess that speaks for itself, having an APP as a blogger. Muyiwa's sessions was mostly based on how a blogger can utilised the benefits of MTN encouraging and promoting APP for Free.

Femi Fadipe (Jumia)
He's one responsible for Jumia affiliate program. Make sales on Jumia and get your share.

Other speakers were Seun Adenuga, who put everyone through Ethics codes you need to follow as a blogger, Great speaker, Uyi(Smile communications) is a great speaker too, deals with analytics on smile and able to share his experience and knowledge, Lanre Aina( GoogleNig) I talked about him in Day 1 post. He was also present today to speak on google adsense and of course youtube videos.

I wouldn't have ended this post without giving a shout out to gistmate Communications and Ayodele Oyebade (Digital Marketing Expert, advertising practitioner, content marketer)

Its 12:00 am, See you Guyz **Heavy Eyes**
